WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

Performances at the Renegade Festival include comedy, drama, musicals, youth theatre, performance art, puppet theatre, readings of new works by local playwrights and improv, all presented by some of Lansing’s most prominent theatres, as well as by independent producers.

Visitors can choose from 18 different shows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings in traditional performance spaces and some unique locations all over Lansing. Saturday features a day-long theatre-making workshop for teens ending with a public performance of their original play.

WHERE IT ALL HAPPENS

The first weekend will continue to exclusively feature Renegade N.O.W. (New Original Works) plays performed Aug. 10-12 in the Red Cedar Friends Meeting Hall. Close to 400 scripts were submitted to Renegade N.O.W. from playwrights around the world and 10 will be presented.

The festival’s second weekend will take place Aug. 17-19 downtown at the Lansing Art Gallery and Impression 5 Science Center in REO Town at The Robin Theatre and the Blue Owl Café; on the Eastside at the Allen Neighborhood Center and Happendance; in East Lansing at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University and Scene Metrospace; and in Old Town, at MICA Gallery and the Red Cedar Friends Meeting Hall.
